I have a '74 LJet 412 wagon

my mechanic can't get a replacement tube from his distributor, sigh. Is this tube interchangeable with other VWs? I currently have a temporary solution on my boot, but it does not have the proper grips to stay in place so I am using ties. Plus the tube I have is not soluble and it bloats. Thanks 8)

I am not sure which "tube" you are speaking of. Is it the cooling fan boot? This fits nothing else unfortiunately. If you can get the clamps, you can probably make something usable out of sheet rubber. You will have to put some wire hoops around the outside to keep it from collapsing. . If its the sedan version, it may be a bit more difficult. Ray

Steve I may have one that came with my car but I rigged L-Let from Vangon witch works like a champ. Let me know if your interested an I'll look for it.

Look at ladypatriots.info to see the Vangon L-Jet in my 412, I have cleaned uo the install a bit since but I am still using an IDF aircleaner.

Thanks , I would greatly appreciate it! The tube on mine is not a good fit. If you find it let me know what you want for it and I will tag on shipping of course.

BTW, your 412 looks great, did you recently paint it?

I can tell you that I am running stock 412 plenum and throddle body attached to a Vanagon L-jet rubber bellows so the diameter on the throddle body side is the same. The other side is attached to a Vanagon air meter on mine not a 412.

Do you have a torn one or something you can post a pic of.

I'm sure they would be close enough to retrofit someting. You may have to use different air cleaner however--heck they may even be the same thing. The Vanagon rubber has the openings for the auxiliary valve and crank case relief, which can easaly be plumbed to the for mentioned two FI components.

Thanks for your responses. Unfortunately I don't have the original breather tube anymore at some point a makeshift tube was put in. Ah well, it is working for now but is not as soluble as I would like it to be.

The vanagon is not the same size as D-jet, but is the same size as L-jet. The crankcase breather should not be plumbed into that elbow. It goes on the down side of the TB...on the plenum. No, there is not anything I have found that fits really. Its another one of those parts I could cast easily from liquid silicone if I could find the time. I will keep looking. Yes, audi's have a lot of potential useful rubber. Ray
