Balljoint boots
Does anyone know where I can pickup replacement rubber grease boots for Thing Balljoints? My brother seperated my 1 year old balljoints with a pickle fork! I should expect it, he's a Ford mechanic.
Any help would be appreciated,

Are they the same as type 1 ball joints. If so www.cip1.com has them.

Ball joints are difrent an it is my impression that you need to change the whole joint. This place has most Thing suspenssion parts listed. Below is a link to the exact page were they sell the joint.

Wish someone could tell me how they go about changing them see prior post.

Look at my post above $24.99--besides if the boots been off it is probably trash anyway. Heck I would change the whole beam if I could get a Thing spindle to splindle rebuild with adjusters and disk spindles for the price of a Bug one.
Take the new ball out of the boot and and save it youl use it some day.

The ball joints I need boots for have less then 2000 miles on them. Quality German ball joints cost around $60.00 each. They were torn as a result of letting my brother remove the spindles for me. The boots look like new with the exception of the tear. I will install Bug boots on them, no worrys.alsehendo wrote:Look at my post above $24.99--besides if the boots been off it is probably trash anyway. Didn't see that you got 4 of them for $15, thought it was just one--do you think the $25 ball joints are junk?--I need just one boot so $15 is prety close to $25 especialy when you add shipping.
Not trying to give you a hard time thanks for your opinion.
Still don't know if one can change the boot without removing it from the torssion arm--can you? If I new this I might also just try changing a boot.

Where is the $24.99 post? Boots tear easily, much easier than a BJ wears out.alsehendo wrote:Look at my post above $24.99--besides if the boots been off it is probably trash anyway. No one has exchange Thing beams, they are too rare of an item to have as exchange, let alone their value as core. And disc spindles would not work on a Thing beam anyways. Disc spindles are for Bug style beams with opposing ball joints. Thing ball joints both point the same way.

$60 for a German ball joint? They are much less expensive here in CA, about 1/2 your price. That is for German too.Jerry D wrote:The ball joints I need boots for have less then 2000 miles on them. You can change a boot w/o removing the BJ from the arm, however, you must remove the BJ from the spindle in order to change the boot.alsehendo wrote:Didn't see that you got 4 of them for $15, thought it was just one--do you think the $25 ball joints are junk?--I need just one boot so $15 is prety close to $25 especialy when you add shipping.
