Rear Springs

The rear of my '72 411 sags more than most. On inspection the left rear spring seems to be bad. The bottom four coils of the left spring are collapsed (touching) under normal load, while the coils on the right spring are fairly evenly spaced. Does anyone know where on the wests coast (Oregon preferably) I could find a squareback with a good set of rear springs? Are the springs the same on a 411 as a 412? How important is the thick rubber piece that fits above the rear springs, is it available anywhere?

Albert...that would be nice to know. Are they reproduction springs or old stock?
Do not assume that you have bad springs in the rear. It is actually quite rare that one is bad and not the other....or for that matter any of them to be more than 10% off. Usually, either one side has a bad shock, or the bushings for the trailing arm are bad or bound up. They are spring bushings. They are under tension. The last four coils should be almost touching. Usually ,the rear is not sagging nearly as much as you think. The front is usually un-naturally high. Some of this is part of the design, the rest of the nose high is generally from failed rebound dampers in the stock struts. Ray

Next week I´ll receive Volvo V70 (model 2000->) rear springs, and I´m going to try them to the rear of 412. The dimensions looks good and the wire is 1 mm thicker than originally in 412.
Let´s see how these works
