Going to look at it tomorrow with money in my pocket. Need a good daily driver to take the place of the F-350 I am using now.

Gas getting to $$$$$$$ for that 350? I dumped my 250 about 1 1/2 years ago, it was a V10 and got about 18 mph on the interstate.

Actually it is a diesel and only gets about 14mpg. Diesel is cheaper than gas and it is going down here, but $1.48 is still too much. And it is a 5spd while the 411 is automatic, be nice not having to shift all the time. Should feel like a luxury car.

I think the 411/412 was built as a luxury car.

I'm from Oklahoma city. At one time..and kinda still, there were lots of 411/412's floating around there. There is a place just on theedge of Tulsa that I have been trying to find again.....way out in the weeds. They have about 6-8 type fours in various stages of advanced decomposition. Tried to buy some parts a couple years back and they looked at me like I was feeling up their wives. Never figured out what their problem was.

I also know where there is a really nice 412 2-door in OKC sitting in the back of someones yard. Not a scratch on it. Its a 73. I saw it last spring. Its about 2 miles from my parents house. I probably have been driving by it since high school. been meaning to stop and ask. Ray

Have you ever seen the one in the old building by Kerr's? I want that one so bad, I even left a business card months ago but it is still where I left it. Somehow there has to be a way to find out who owns it.

Ray are you coming to the OKC show June 19th? If so let me know and we can meet up, hope to have my new 411 there.

No i havn't seen that one...i don't think. Its amazing, in reality, I know where about 6-7 are around OKC. At one time, there were rows of them in the junkyards. The blend of weather in Oklahoma is kinda suited to them. Actually i will be out of the country by the 19th.
I'm trying to remember where Kerrs is. You are not speaking of Kerr automotive are you? Thats easily the finest type 4 friendly parts store I have ever come across. Been going there for about 25 years now. Ray

Oklahoma City is where my '73 came from apparently. There is a sticker in the doorjamb for the next service, which was due at 51,xxx mi., sometime in 1978!  Hmmm... maybe I should be making some visits down there doing some scouting for Type 4's...

Doh! I wish this forum required one to be registered, that way this wouldn't keep happening. Good luck with the purchase!

Yes that is Kerr Automotive. That is one of the coolest places to hang out. Mr. Kerr lets me rumage through stuff. He just bought out a parts store from back east and stuffed everything all over his place. Just more stuff he will never go through(no VW stuff). For those of you that have never been there, it is so full of parts that all you have is a little path from the door to the counter. He has been in this location for 35 years. It is phd, piled high and deep.

Yes...I have been doing business with them since they were in the "old" shack next door. This is no exageration folks....seriuosly! They spnd their time buying parts supply houses and stocks. Probably sevral times a year. A semi hauls in anough parts to fill a warehouse. There are literally waist and chest high stacks of brand new and NOS parts starting just inside the door...all the way to the counter in walls. It slowly disappears somewhere...then happens again. They get some hard to find stuff cycling in there. The prices are reasonable, the service is excellent. They do not stock low quality parts. I have never found or bought a low quality part there. At one time, they were perhaps 60-70% VW. nOw they are probably 25-30%. They have alays covered all european and a lot of japanese cars. Ray
