Zero. But...if the cylinder has NO rust pits in it, lap it with 2000 grit sandpaper and steal the seals ONLY...from a type 3 or rabbit kit. Get the brass compensating flap valves as well. They rebuild well. Or...you can . easily install a 22mm bus cylinder in the trunk like I did...in the spot where the punch outs are for the power brake unit bend two new lines and fab a pushrod and fulcrum.d .it works just as well or better than stock and is easily replacable. It looks like it belongs as well. Ray

You probably could, ut you already have a proportioning valve adjustment to do with the manual bus master cylinder. The problem I found with using a super beetle, rabbit or type 3 cylinder itself...is that the front volume circuit is too small. The rear is about right. So...you must start with a cylinder whose circuit volume is the same or larger than what the type 4 has.
The type 4's power unit and power cylinder...is unique to the car. I know where they are on the shelf if you want them...NOS (FAG). They are pricey. But...the power master cylinder is still avaialable new special order. If you put power on it...use the stock parts or it will be a lot of work.
Now...with stock parts, hot pads, stainless teflon lines, and cross drilled font rotors....the brakes are awesome. With the bus master...with about 10-15% more volume available....they are super awesome. Nearly like power.Ray
