Type 4s at the VW Classic

Post by tuna »

Well, this year's VW Classic saw two Type 4s, one 411 and one 412, both wagons. They were both really nice cars. Of course I snapped some pics of the cars to share with everyone here. You'll find the pics, along with the rest of my pics from the Classic, at this URL: http://dagobah.tunacan.net/vwclassic/

Both cars look great. Not sure if I can handle the "gangster white walls" on the 411 though  ...By the way...I'm in the philippines finally. Its raining chickens and pigs....monsoon season. So i get to work....and someone here has ...and electrc blue brazilia! So very few VW's in the Philippines. The driver says its because German parts of any kind are expensive...due to shipping . Asia anything...is closer. That 15 hour flight was a ball breaker. I only have decent e-mail at work...so it will slow me down. Ray

Glad to hear you made it ok! Did you take a camera with you? If so take some shits of the Brasillia! Also get a good look and see if anything on it matches a type 4. I have a hook up in Brazil for some parts, I think.

Only the front valence. Its identical to 412. I will have to look at the dash and interior. The rest of the car is smaller and type 1/3 based. Ray

No prob! By the way...Vw's of any type are quite rare over here. Its a lot farther to ship spares for German and european cars than it is for Asian cars. Toyota, kia, mitsubishi, Nissan, honda....are kings here...in about that order. I have seen only 2 watercooled VW. Hace seen maybe 30 ACVW bugs. But you can tell they were loved....lots of decoration...good running...moving fast with the traffic. Ray

ray, wish I was there, I was stationed at Subic Bay for a short time in '90 and had a blast (usual single guy's tour). They have left-hand drive cars, makes it nice to orient yourself for driving the streets.

Just be careful.........foreigners, especially Americans, are "rich" and kidnappings for ransom sometimes happen.......make lots of local friends, and they will watch out for you.
So you think your project is taking forever eh? Well you've got nothing on me.....
