Interesting observation...

I was looking at the "nose panel" of a '74 412 yesterday, and if you look at it carefully, it has little stamped recessed areas where it would have been punched out for the '73 bumper supports. This would make it much easier to use a '74 panel on a '73 I would think (as if cutting and welding that part would be "easy").

Also, it would make it easier for those countries other than the USA to use the normal steel bumper instead of the aluminum DOT crash bu.mper which was USA only. Actually, the sad part is, that the aluminum bumer was not ugly...it was actually very nicely done. Its just too large in proportion. It may actually be nice if you dump the bumper shocks...install pieces of pipe and pull the bumper in close to the body. Also, I hope people are not destroying the aluminum bumpers. Soon they may be all we have.Ray

Ah, yes, I remember some people doing the shortened bumper mounts for the big aluminum bumpers on their 320i BMW's back when I had mine. I actually don't mind the look of the bumpers themselves, but they do look like there is something "missing" between them and the body on the '74's.

Yeah..there are days when I just wish I could shrink the aluminum bumpers in all dimensons...like 10-15%. They would kinda be nice then.

Say...just wondering....do we call you Uber?....or Mr. Crap?....hee hee hee giggle.....snort  couldn't help it! I been drinkin again. Ray
