Fuel Gauge is possesed

Hello,

My fuel gauge seems to be possesed. It goes where it wants to when it wants to, and no longer indicates an accurate fuel reading. Anything that may cause this? Do I need a new unit? At teh same time my spedometer started hesitating at 30 MPH. It stays there and then flies up to 50 when I am accelerating. When I slow down. It is still on 30 until I am almost at a stop, then it falls like a rock. Nothing has changed that I know of...

The two problems are not related.
The fuel gauge is showing classic signs of sending unit falfunction (failure).
The speedo cable could probable use some moly lube. My guess anyway. Bob Ingman

Any ideas where to get a decent priced sending unit?

Here`s the catch. The 181 sender has a stud to hold a cap on it. The bug unit is the same without the stud. If you are willing to use a washer to hold the cap on you can buy a bug sender for low $
www.socalautoparts.com or if a 181 part is needed see the various thing suppliers. Cheers. Bob Ingman

The cap is due to the spare tire location in the thing as opposed to that of the bug. Its supposed to protect the fitting. Thats all. Bob Ingman
