Wasserboxer vs Oxyboxer in a Karmann Ghia

Post by Barfly »

Hello,

I post this message because I've some questions to ask. I want to know which
engine configuration would be better concerning a watercooled or a aircooled
engine.

I already have a WBX 2.1L DJ engine and I don't know exactely if it would
be better to prepare it "OXYBOXER" or just to leave it Watercooled. My configuration
is :

cylinders /pistons 94 mm
crankshaft : 82mm
camshaft : Webcam 86A
scat 1:1.4 or Pauter 1:1.4
Weber fuel injection

my question is, how many horsepower can I have with this engine ? (I would
like to prepare a "street" engine and not a "run" one.

Thanks for answers

You MAY be able to just machine down the immense crown on the stock pistons to get the right deck... And more compression while you are at it.

I'm going to try it on some old MV pistons. Should work.
(only 3mm, and deck could be reduced as well) (1/2 76>>82 stroke)

I'm trying to visualize a radiator in a Ghia... That's would be my only problem going water cooled.

Only going by what I have googled, with ported but stock heads, you should see ~150HP, probably more.

The WBX heads flow well, but need work to rev high. (>~6000 RPM) depending on who you listen to.

And save the roller rockers are for the strip... wher you can afford for them to break regularly.
Addendum to Newtons first law:
zero vehicles on jackstands, square gets a fresh 090 and 1911, cabby gets a blower.
EZ3.6 Vanagon after that.(mounted, needs everything finished) then Creamsicle.
