oil filter??

VW's aircooled mini SUV. Great for riding in the country, or cruising the beach.

oil filter??

i am having a new engine build..1776, the guy building it is a bus freak lol...but he wants to put an external oil filter on it.. my ? is do i need this?? i live in so. az. the temp gets pretty hot here.. this is an everyday car..
any ideals??

Every engine i build i tap for a full flow. Even if i don't install one on the initial build.

Unless you're doing a stock restoration and the engine is a 25hp or 36hp i do a full flow.

The reasons are obvious... cleaner oil and alittle more capacity. While you're at it... add a 1.5qt deep sump.

More oil and cleaner oil is a good thing.

I agree with Glenn, can't have too much or too clean oil.

A remote filter will mount easily under the car.
