Living in France, I've been dreaming to buy a swing-out tire carrier for my Thing. But the only place I found one, was the Thing Shop. Importing something so cumbersome... might end up costing a fortune.
During the summer, I found this great metal worker. Does anyone have a map, a schema, a whatever you want to call it, with a detail on the parts (and their size) needed to make a rear tire carrier ? My PM is open !!!
corbo my guess would be that a standard swing out tire carrier found on many SUVs would easily adapt to mount on the Thing. Not much chance that someone would have a schematic but someone probably will be able to send pics of their setup that would include enough detail. Cheers Bob Ingman
Check with your fabricator and find out what he'd need to build one... unfortunately the Thing Shop design is slightly tough to take photos of and get accurate dimensions.
