Post by Steve Rock »

Who here races their bugs in vintage classes, and what are the limitations of this class?

When i auto-x with scca i run in historics with a EM index. You can run from stock to totally modified, they will just give you an index that fits the modifications that are done to your car. This helps to even out the field

With VARA & HSR-West...

Post by ericsbracer »

With my 71 Super, I used to run in B-Sedan in HSR-West & the Vintage 2.5 Group or F-Production/Group 3(68-72) with VARA. A lot will depend on what modifications you've made, especially in the engine. If you've increased displacement you may get moved up in the classes, or possibly not allowed to run (except maybe as a sports racer).

Both VARA http://www.vararacing.com and HSR-West http://www.hsr-westracing.com have rules posted.

Sadly - different vintage groups 'allow' different things - which means some will look and some won't-depending on the group you race with, the class you choose and how fast you are. I chose to follow the 1972 SCCA Historic GCR and the documention I found regarding the Treuhaft Trans-Am car, and upgraded the safety equipment as required.
