A/C issues

Post by Piledriver »

Ok kids, my Bentley is <=87, and I have an 88...
(long story)

Wiring question, air conditioning, just died. (not good in Texas)

The power from the fuse goes thru a yellow/black wire off G3 on the fusebox (good pwr) to a connector behind the L R B pillar cover. (NO power)
(then up to the AC switch, etc...)

The >87 wiring chart does NOT show another connector/junction inline.
(Circuits broken BEFORE it goes up to the switch, between fusebox and B pillar connector)

If I jumper power in at that point, AC starts up/blows cool/works.
Definately wiring, and as it's only
running relays/tstat AFAIK, I have no idea why it's a 1.5mm wire... but I digress....
(itty bity jumper wire did not get hot, didn't measure current)

Before I just run power from something else on the X relay in the engine compartment up, can someone look and see if there is another connector/junction/something) listed for '88? (Wolfie)
Addendum to Newtons first law:
zero vehicles on jackstands, square gets a fresh 090 and 1911, cabby gets a blower.
EZ3.6 Vanagon after that.(mounted, needs everything finished) then Creamsicle.

Hi!

In which type A/C do you refer to ?

a)under dash
b) tunnel style

If it is the "tunnel style" and you car is *NOT* a Syncro then 1987 "H" to 1988 "I" are using exactly the same wiring looms (thru 1990)...

Good luck

Sadly it's the "wind tunnel" overhead type, std Wolfsburg edition.
(Man, the thing *really* blows hard with the front section off... thinking about bigger or extra outlets)

Time to run a new wire I guess.

Been planning on an oil temp/pressure gauge combo, might as well run several...

Thanks, Jim!

As a follow up, there was an open somewhere in the harness between the fusebox and rear pillar connection.

I ran a new wire, AC works fine.
