National Club ??

We all got fired up a while back about a National 411/412 club. Someone volunteered to work on a logo, several club names were thrown around. I found this to be a Fantastic idea, and it seemed that many who hit this site regularly agreed.

What Happened? :?

Basically, with this site, we are already a 'national club'. Just look at the last three or four pages on the 411/412 forum. There brothers, are your club members.

I say we go forward the next couple of steps and formalize this. As Ray has pointed out, the 411/412 is the last frontier for air-cooled VW, and as enthusiast grow weary of the Type 1, more will migrate to the 411/412. Also pointed out, 411/412s seem to be 'coming out of the wood works'.

Let's rally around these cars we are so fond of. 8)

Humm, perhaps a Registry, as the Porsche 911 has, same as a club, but Register sounds cooler than 'club'.
The 411/412 Registry.

You're right, we are basically a club already. If someone comes up with a logo, I've got the equipment to make vinyl decals. I suggest something small, we don't want to be confused with the ricer crowd  . However, it's well known that the bigger the vinyl decal, the more HP you get  .

I'll try to come up with something if I get some free time this weekend. Anybody else have any ideas?

Same idea as the North American MGB Registry for MGB's (NAMGBR), a really, really great idea for T4's. Count me in, too.

I know it's not T4 VW, but here's a link to the NAMGBR website, if anyone's interested in how they've got things divvied up, to get some ideas to get the ball rolling...

I vote for Ray as Technical Advisor for Life! :)

So how many do you think are out there?

Well Import numbers were never that high, and the 74's had a short production run.

My figuring is purely off the cuff here.

You can estimate on the fly that more than half were crushed, then 1/4 more are sitting in Joe Schmoe's back 40 full of rust and never able to run again, I would say 1/4 made are still ABLE to be put back on the road or are already on the road. So if you could find numbers take 1/4 out of them maybe? What do you other guys think?

Why not make it international? There are some really hardcore
411/412 fans "abroad". Think Neil who took his driver Type 4
to the race track and had fun on the race track with the Porsches,
or the French 411 on my site? Or we could keep it national but
open it up to international members.

I might be open to doing the website, though we'll need money
for the webhosting (unless one of our members is in the web
hosting biz and is willing to donate). I'm currently working on a
client's site, but I'm hoping to hait done sometime in September.

Well, there are already some Type IV clubs in Europe. It might just be a good idea to include everyone though. Anyway, here is my preliminary workup of a proposal for a Type IV club North America emblem.

Man that is nice, very well designed, I like the use of the front of the 2 "models" includes everyone.

Thanks! Anyway, which do you all prefer when talking about our cars, Type "4" or Type "IV"?

Love the logo. My idea was similar with using the two different front ends, but your design is much better that what I was thinking.

Hi gents, back for a day then off again.

Great design Herr Uber. It's to the point, it's not convuluted with extranious information. It holds true with our character, not too flashy. I like the IV better than a 4.

Sure, International welcome. We here in the states would be the North America Chapter. Still hits the point of being an all incompassing Registry for a vehicle that is so rare and dispersed.

Tuna, what is the est. cost of site hosting? "Charter" members could assist is initial build costs.
