starter compatibility

Moving along here with my "non-starter" 412. i have pretty much eleminated the ign. switch as a suspect. So, my question is if it is the starter, are 412 starters same as type 3 starters. I got a 71 T3 hanging around and wonder if I can use it. thanks for any advice

never mind folks, just tested the starter and its fine. So noe I know it is not the ign switch or the starter. Nwxt, will be checking all the grounds Ray suggested.
