NOS T4 master cylinder

Post by Bruce2 »

I was at a local Porsche repair shop today and they let me root around
in their parts storage area. The only thing I was interested in was
any VW parts. I didn't find much, but I did find an NOS type 4 master
cylinder. 411 611 015F. Its in the original VW blue box, painted
black with VW logos cast into it. The brake light switches are in it
(NOS too), and plugs. As you probably know there is a rod that
extends out, so I pushed it in. The internals are free and move
easily against the internal spring. I could hear air moving when I
did. There was a bit of rust on the mounting flange since its bare
metal, but this doesn't affect anything. Ray tells me this master cylinder is for cars with power brakes.
If anyone is interested in this, send me a PM or e-mail. If I have an offer, I will go and get it. The guy does not do e-mail or mail orders.

Great Job

Great find! I dont have the power brakes though. I think the auto might have that. I think you would have to clean it up and replace the seals. Someone would love the great starting point! Thx Bill
p.s what is he looking for it?

He wants me to give him an offer, that's why I'm looking for interest here.

When I pushed on the rod, I concluded it was all good inside. The bolt and brake switches were still covered in cosmoline.

Can anyone confirm this is for power brakes?

I have one with that part # and I think we concluded it is for power brakes. Doesn't seem like a lot of the cars had power brakes unfortunately...

By the way...for those interested...I happen to know where an NOS brake booster for 411/412 is...in the box on a shelf. It would be not too hard to fab the linkage for the power brakes. I figured one of you parts hogs out there  would take Bruce up on this. Ray

Hmm, power brakes might be nice, though...
