Those wishing to switch from the Webber Progressive

This is EXACTLY what I run on my 2 litre Van, I can do 85 all day on the Interstate even UP HILLS.

The carbs are EASY to rejet for 1.7 and 1.8

Not as expensive as dual Webbers, with almost the performance.

Great deal.

I also found these

I have never used Dellortos but I have heard they run awesome.

I'd love those Dells but with a starting bid of $499... and they're used. I don't know what they go for new, but that's a lot of coin.

They no longer make Dells. Thats why they run a higher price.

You're kidding! When did this happen. I ordered a new kit for my rabbit motor and it came with a single Dellorto 36. This was only about 3 of 4 years ago. I have never had a problem out of that carb.

I am talking of the type used on aicooled, they are different than the watercooled versions, I am of corse speaking off the cuff, for I know not much about Dells.

That's exactly what it is. It's a single 36 downdraft and it's exactly the same as the carbs that are sold for the dual carb setup for aircooled engines. Come to think of it, I havn't seen the ad for them in a long time. Maybe that's why. In fact, I think the ad now has a progressive setup in it's place. I'll have to check into that, now I'm curious.

How long ago did you buy them? My local VW shop took a set off of a trashed 914 2 litre powered 411 wagon because he said they are hard to find.

Now that I think about it, it was about 6 years ago. Man, where did all that time go? I'd love to find one more so I could use them as duals on my 412 and just get a bigger Weber for the bunny motor. The Webers and Dellortos have the same bolt pattern right?

Thanks, I'm gonna watch both of those. I probably have a better chance of getting one in my price range if I can find someone who only has one.

Post by vwbill »

Man those 44's look like a sweet setup but can you run them on a 1.7 1.8? Bill

What the hell is a 413? I ment 412.

I think the 44's are little to big. Although you could backbuild them to work, smaller jets, etc. I think.
