Club/Registry material needed

Post by tuna »

Hey all,

You want to contribute to the club and registry? Here's an assignment for those of you that don't know what to do. I'd like to gather pictures of 411s and 412s. They need to be original pics, not "borrowed" from another web site (unless you get permission from the photographer), and preferably pretty clean.

I need whole car shots, detail shots (like bumpers, taillights, headligts, etc.), and I need them of the various years. This way we can show those new to the 411/412 what the bumper differences are, how the taillights changed, etc.).

I'll also need pictures of all members' Type 4s. I need at least 1 pic of each car, and if you want to be in the pic, that's optional. Along with the pics, I'll need a brief history of your T4, modifications/customization, the VIN#, etc.

If you have an idea for material for the web site, contact me here or via email.

Soon, very soon, I'll have all my cars in one place where I can dig in and get my hands dirty...

I just posted a copy of a 1971 Type 4 Wiring Diagram on my club's web site. Your welcome to copy it if you want to. Unlike the one on type2.com, this one is in English. You'll find it at the bottom of this page:

http://gallery.volksfolks.org/view_album.php?page=1

I scanned this out of my Type 4 Provisional Workshop Manual. Unfortunantly I only have Part 2. It covers electrical, body, and fresh air heating. If anyone needs any pages scanned out of it, let me know.

Black and white can make for great photos, but in this case we want the visitors to see all of the colors VW used with our beloved Type 4s. If you have pictures that are print, scan them with a flatbed scanner and send them.

You can send any 411/412 materials to me at this address: t4corner@tunacan.net
I have broadband at home, so don't don't worry about a 4-5MB email.

As for pic size/format, let's go with nothing bigger than 1600x1200 (I can/will resize to best suit the site) and save them in JPEG format.

Hey, wow thanks Zen! Thanks Ray!!!!!!!!!! Do you need what some disc set out so you can burn some? How many Megs is it????
So what is the deal with puttting pics and or Images that you put together to make a collage and use them in a public forum non profit club??? Is it like sampling? If the books are not published and its for a car that is waning fast do you need to get releases for all documentation??? Did anyone ever get my sampling pics/movie/with music to work???? I dont want to make a profit from the data and pics I just want it to still be out there some day is a usable form! Hard copy and disc form.....
I cant believe all the data Ray has on his car!! I wonder what the punch cards and computer program looked like and the hookup I/O's.
Wonder if its still part of the box booklet to the dealers? In today memory size it would run on a flash stick, lol! bill

I will try and figure out how big this file set is. Its hard to print...as its a strange (to me) file system...but...its fabulous on teh computer. You pull up the sub-set...bidy, engine etc....and all pages come up as thumnails on one page. Then double click and the scan of the page comes up full size. Yes, I would be happy to send it out to copy.
My brother jokes around about my collection of documents. He tells people that I probably even have a piece of Hitlers brain in a jar, in there somewhere. I tell them " No....I don't ...but I may have a couple nude snap-shots of Eva braun and the family German Shepards making it in a schwimm-wagen"...floating around somewhere  Ray
