Have we lost our motivation?

Post by ecdez »

For about three weeks straight, we were all pumped up about the club/registry, but now it seem to be seldom mentioned. Are we giving up? I know Tuna is working on a site, do you need help? Ray just got a ton of new information with his new disk, are we going to put it to use? I know we can do it, we all probably just got sidetracked.

I'm guilty of slacking myself. I still don't have my gas tank installed  . That was supposed to be done weeks ago.

If anyone needs help getting things going, let me know and I'll help anyway I can. It's starting to get cold out too, the perfect time for some indoor projects. 8)

Its just been busy. I think Tuna had a place he wanted me to zip the electronic version of the information. I have not heard back about that. I zipped out a sample the other day. I can zip out chapters...if everyone sends their e-mails. I can do group mailings. I know Tuna will make it available to everyone. That needs to be done too. Hang in there. Ray

Ray,

Is your email the one listed in your profile? If it is, I will send you the login information to upload the goods. :D I've been making room on this server, as I had tons of pics taken room from another project.

Still motivated about the club, but admit my motivation on working on my 412 has waned recently, well, I've not worked on my other v-dubs either. Got out there yesterday though and got about 1/4 way through removing the front end.

I've been busy recently as I was away on a business trip. Looks like I'll be able to close on my house Nov. 8th at the latest, woohoo! I'm going to look at a tow beast tonight, '89 Ford Crown Victoria LX (Old codger special). Some air-shocks and a hitch and she'd be ready to abuse. Then begins the process of towing all my cars to my friggin' kickass new shop. I'll also be getting broadband internet which should help things, I've got "56"K  at home right now, and there something wrong with the phone line in that neck of the woods, so it barely works. I'll have my computer in a better place for working, so I'll be more motivated to do some graphic work, and I'll be tearing into my cars, so I'll be taking some pictures. Basically I've been silent because I don't have anything to contribute at the moment, but hopefully that should change soon and we'll be back rolling again. Every night before I fall asleep, I think about the challenges and rewards that lie ahead when I work on my 412's, so I guess that means I'm still excited.

Glad to see were all still for it. I too need to motivate myself to get some stuff done. I've been putting it off long enough.

I got a 3 day weekend starting tomorrow, so hopefully I'll get something done. :P See you all on Monday.

Sunday night I fly back from the PI. At midnight...I am basically unemployed. While working on some little contracts and collecting some unemployment and hopefuly getting another job.....I will start to make some parts in the evenings. I have two in mind to finish. First...the copper plates for D-jet. Next 8) TB to air cleaner boots for 411/412...with optional larger TB end to use the 2.0/1.8 TB. I have starts on many parts.

I gave also started....back in january....the base mold for the cooling bellows on the sedan model for 411/412  . Ray

sorry, work has been EXTREMELY HECTIC for the past month, what with trying to recover from hurricanes to being shipped off to Orlando for a trade show for a week, I have not even thought of VW's. Except for Weds. when a GHIA flew by us on I4 in Orlando doing 85!

Busy times...

Apologies, I've been "off the air" for 6-8 weeks myself due to work. I'd really like to see a T4 club, too.

I don't know about you guys, but it seems every year this time (Oct-Nov) the head shed finds new ways to spend my time! It's been crazy.

I'm a little closer on Nordhoff's Nomad (new unofficial title for my 73 412 wagon), just need to get a free weekend with no rain to drop the drivetrain and do that diagnostic teardown and re-seal. Rebuilding the starter and alternator now, I've de-crudded the fuel tank, re-installed the fuel pump and lines in front, repaired the Blaupunkt Emden AM/FM/LW radio and installed it, de-rusted and repainted the floorpans in the passenger compartment and luggage compartment, flushed and inerted the A/C lines, evap, and condenser, installed the evap housing, and pressurized and leak-checked the A/C. Still have front suspension rebuild and engine/transmission work to do.

99 New Beetle 2.0 (never gives any trouble)
04 Golf TDI (45 MPG)

Sounds like your coming along nicely! I'm about 95% moved into my new place. The last components are my cat, and my 412's that are in storage. I need to replace the motor in my Crown Vic. tow vehicle (arrggh, don't ask) then I can get the other two. I may go to an auction this weekend, the old farmers around here are dying off like crazy, and all their tools and equipment go up for auction usually. I should get broadband hooked up next week.

Thanks Uber. I guess it seems like less progress than it really is. Glad to hear you're almost moved in. That's always a pain.

Crown Vic???
