Where can I get one of those gas overflow cannisters that are in the trunk. I have a smell of gas coming from there and last night I was checking the hoses and tugged on one that is installed on that cannister and the nipple came out-it had rusted from the inside. Or do you think this can be brazed-kind of sketchy due to the gas vapors in it though. Thanks

Any 72 and later standard Beetle will have one the same.

You could weld or braze it, no problem. You could blow compressed air in it to dry out any gas. Once its dry, its perfectly safe to weld away.
