A potential use for 1.9s

Here's the place for info on converting to a Type V motor!

A potential use for 1.9s

Post by Piledriver »

I just got done having a "brilliant evil plan" of building a cheap, high revving capable T4 shot down by reality, by offset grinding the 66 cranks to 69, and using the T1 94s and VW(or longer) length chevy journal cranks to make a long rod, high rev turbo motor. (Wiseco 94s, $169 for 4 pistons) Can't do that offset grind w/o welding /drilling the oil passages, so there goes the cheap crank source, might as well buy a stroker...

Ok, so you are wondering "what's this got to do with the wasser forum?"

The basic principle would work on the wasser 1.9s, except fot the good/cheap pistons.

If one used the wasser 69 crank with 5.6" VW journal H or I beams, with the pistons from Gowesty for the 2.1, (assuming zero deck of the original setup, pessimistic) 1.24mm of POSITIVE deck, most likely near zero in reality, and in any case, small enough to have machined off safely to set your deck exactly where you want.

That would give you a rod ratio of 2.06:1, perfect for a very high rev capable motor. The CR would be ~8.6:1 with stock chambers and .040 deck. With that rod ratio, even the I beams would probably be OK for ~8K due to the reduced piston speed.
Addendum to Newtons first law:
zero vehicles on jackstands, square gets a fresh 090 and 1911, cabby gets a blower.
EZ3.6 Vanagon after that.(mounted, needs everything finished) then Creamsicle.

BTW, this combo works out to 1998 cc.
