Hey guys I got my new duck boards the other day!

I am starting to think that I might have a few missing parts on this Thing???...

Ok, I have a question. What is this tube suppose to do? It comes out of the tunnel right where the battery is suppose be. This is a 74? Thing pan but I drive a 73? so I assume it has something to do with the heat controls but I can?t be sure.

Any ideas what to do with the old heat control levers in the tunnel? I was thinking I could convert one to a hand throttle like they had in the old 60?s era Land Rovers for those long boring highway drives.

Merry Christmas!

That is where the control wire for the rear heat flaps on the Y's under the rear seat comes out.

Oh, ok thanks! I cant think of anything I would need a cable control for back there so I guess I can cut it off and weld the hole up.

Oh Mattt, how is the Thing coming along? Got it painted yet?

I guess you could weld it up, but why not just leave it. You never know when you or the next owner will want 74 style heat. Its easy to just ignore it,,,,,once its altered, it cant go back.

My Thing gives me dirty looks every day, growls sometimes too from the lack of attention I give it. Hopefully soon here I can give it some love.

I might take it out this weekend to Ocotillo Wells to have some fun with it.

Next owner??? I have dragged this car from one end of this country to the other for almost two decades. I plan to be buried with it.... Oh wait I plan to be cremated, ummm. OK maybe there will be a next owner but I am pretty sure gas won?t be around anymore.

You know I have never been to Ocotillo Wells, what's it like and where is it?

Are you that old that you are already planning your next journey? J/K

I for one will miss my gas powered cars if what you say happens.

I ended up not going to Ocotillo, soon though. Its open desert, canyons, washes, sand, dirt, wind, etc. Its down near Salton Sea off the 86 Expressway.
