Rebuilt Eberspaecher!

I returned from a Christmas trip last night, and I completed work on the Eber. I fired it up tonight outside in the driveway, test leads all over the place. It works! I had to readjust fuel delivery before firing it up (increasing pump output)...BTW, if anyone has a Clymer manual, the Eber section has the delivery adjustment directions for the pump wrong :x ...looking at the discharge fitting end-on, CW = less fuel, CCW = more fuel. I almost thought I had a bad pump until I figured out that little bit. It appears the adjustment effectively moves the piston stop, so moving the fitting out makes the piston travel father, so therefore more fuel is discharged per piston stroke. BTW, New Ford Gray (high temp) is a bit light, but it's close enough for me, so that's what I sprayed the Eber with after removing the old paint and surface rust. Looks good.

Dang! first time I've been able to get on in a week! Yeah...I noticed the clymer manual had that typo also. The heater section and the drivetrain alignment section are the only two useful parts of the entire manual though. Ray

Yeah, concur, the Eber section of the Clymer manual (other than the mistake on pump setting, and having references to the pre-electronic-control manual thermostat) is pretty good. That's about all I use it for...the Haynes manual is pretty good for most other stuff, and with the Bentley T3 manual for the AT, it's got most everytinh I need. It would be great though to find a VW factory/dealer service manual sometime, though.

Oh yeah, now that I've got the centerlink out, I can drag the 'scope in to the garage and see how the Mazda ignition coil's really working (it provides spark just fine, but does it cause too much contact point sparking or not), and if I need to adjust the condenser's value. I'll post results when I get them, along with more details on replacing the Bosch coil with the Hanshin coil.

Albert, merci! :D
Looks like this guy has lots of NOS VW stuff up there in the Yukon! What in the devil is a VW parts operation doing up there...amazing! I sort of skimmed the listings, and saw quite a few 411 and 022 part numbers. The prices are steep, but I'm assuming it's in CDN$, so that means they're not as steep. Shipping cost might be a deal from Mile 910 on the AlCan Highway, but what a bunch of parts he's got!
