weight of a Thing

I have a question about the weight of a Thing.

The specifications state that shipping weight is 1984 but gross vehicle weight is 2954. I think that they are rated to carry around 900 pounds. Is the gross weight including a fully loaded car or just empty curb weight? 2954 just seem way to heavy, there really isn?t much to these cars.

I wish I had a way to weight my car to find out.

Take your car with you to the recycling center. I drove mine once to turn in some cans and I strategically parked on the scale. It was somewhere around 2000lb. I'd say that 2984 is total GVW loaded.

Funny you should mention that. I was just at the recycler today dropping off the old roof from my house and they had me park the truck on the scale. The light bulb clicked on?.

I also asked if he ever gets old VW engines. He told me that he gets them in complete condition all the time. If anyone ever needs a core for anything try your local metal recycler. Got the Alternator I am using right now for $5. sold as scrap aluminum and it worked fine.

The idea is that Curb Weight should never be greater than GVC
(Grosss Vehicle Weight) (The maximum total weight a single car can handle)

Curb weight is the total weight of a car with its current gas tank, passenger load and cargo.

GVC is the weight that a car can handle with all fluid filled added to max passengers and the maximum car's cargo ~ loaded to the max with max passengers, baggage and all the stuff inside the car. K-mann
