I haven't posted in this forum for a while -- perhaps since buying my Super Beetle. I still come here several times per week just to snoop around. Someday, I'll get a 411 or 412.
Strangely, I post here now because of my Super Beetle.
I eventually want to get an Eberspacher heater specific for my Type 1. While scanning eBay, I came across a five-inch gauge cluster as mentioned in the subject. With four hours left in the auction, I doubt I will be able to bid on this even if I am able to get answers and those answers are satisfactory for my idea. But the answers will still be of value for future use.
First, is there any reason this timer gizmo couldn't be incorporated to a proper gas heater for my Super? Also related, is there any reason the gas gauge portion wouldn't interphase with the sending unit currently on my 1302?
Second, is there any reason this gauge cluster couldn't go where my stock speedo is located?

I had one of these gauge clusters i bought on auction for my 412, but since i had a 74 and it was for earlier, there were wirng issues.
In regards to clocks with timers, there was one made for the beetles for sure I am not so sure about super beetles....but VDO made a clock for them so no doubt a heater timer, too. If you look at the schematic fo r an eberspacher heater, there is a place for a wire to connect for a timer. It is in the wiring diagram. So, no this one on auction will not work but your quest by no means should be over. There is a guy out there (i hope he is still around) named Ark Marvis (i think) aka heaterman that made a little timer that wend where the ashtray goes...........if you find him, please give me the contact info.
