Heard from a VW dude back where i come from that his Type 1 cam was worn very quick by the lifters(solid type 4) , when he put this combo ina WBX..
Anyone with other experiences?? good or bad?

Thinking of a Engle TCS10 turbo grind (same as the local dude had problem with)

Most likely a mis match of parts. Normally a WBX engine is not having worse problems than T1. He also, most likely, used either Scat HD or Brazil "factory" lifters, along with HD dual springs during break in. Today that simply is not possible to do.
Unless you stumble over a good old NOS set of german lifters, Febi/Bilstein, SLR reground or Ceramics. CB´s coated stockers maybe. Havent tried those w. dual springs yet.

lifter diameter and cam ramp angles are directly tied together. The type 1 lifter diameter is bigger than type 4 so it allows cam grinders to accelerate the valve open faster than possible on a type 4 by increasing the ramp angle to almost the edge of the lifter. With a mild type 1 cam, and type 4 lifters, like stock wbx uses, this is not a problem. The best thing to do is talk to the cam grinder about what your needs and application are before choosing parts, then you can avoid problems.

Checking out som prices on Type1 lifters with bushings allowing them into WBX crank..
i think that will do it for me.
