Accessory "port" and map light

Post by Bucko »

On my 1971 Military type 181, I have a "port" on the right hand side of the dash, right above the windshield wiper switch. This port is described as an "accessory" port. What accessory plugged into it? It has 12 volts at it, and its connector resembles something like a push in bulb socket.

Next is the map light. I see this was a possibility on the military type 181's, and I have a red and brown wire (behind the right hand dash panel) that is used for this. Where did this map light mount?

Anyone have one for sale?

Bucko,

I just saw these the other day on Vintage Warehouse's website. I think these are what you are looking for. They want $25.00 each for them

Nope, that's not it, but I appretiate the tip. The "accessory" plug they sell does not have a front view, so I cannot tell if the socket is the same as what I have. I'm looking for what plugs into these accessory plugs.

Originally, the plug I have had a plastic (or rubber) cover that snapped into it's hole, to protect the inner contacts I presume. This cover is missing on mine.

Perhaps someone with military 181 ownership/experience has seen these, and knows what plugs into them?

Where can I purchase the second part you show (it converts the wierd port to a cigarette lighter style port).

Who sells them?

And thanks for solving this mystery. I'm guessing the link to picture was a work light the military used.

About the "second part", I have one for sale. But shipping can be expensive.

I've heard that refered to as an inspection light, although I've never seen one. Makes sense though. It looks as though there's enough cord there to reach any part of the vehicle and clip onto the trunk lid or engine compartment door.

This one?

Yes, I can send the package in Germany.

Shipping with the french post office should cost less than 5 euros.
Estimation for delivery: 1 week or maybe less.

With Fedex, it is still very expensive. Price: 42.10 euros

If you send me the money with paypal, I can send you the package quickly but there are some small fees. Even if you send me the amount in euros, paypal removes 3.4% + 0.35 euro (I have a Premier account).

What is the total you need me to send you via PayPal (including Shipping)? Can we still make the April 20th deadline to the address (Germany) I gave you?

Kevin, you have a PM (a copy of my email from 04/08/2005).

Apparently, you didn't receive this message.

I'm sorry but now I can no longer guarantee that you will get the part before deadline.
