Paint on engine tin?

Post by ztnoo »

Any suggestions for paint on engine tin? Powder coat would be nice, but this isn't a show car, and we don't have the time or the resources right now to do that. Just trying to clean things up and make the engine compartment a little more appealing visually.
I want something that will hold up reasonable well to heat and moisture. Any specific suggestions for a do-it-yourselfer?

I recently did a full set of engine tins. I cleaned them with solvent, sanded them down a bit and painted them with the flat black "5,000 degree F" exhaust paint. It has held up very well so far. I was hoping for powder coat but $ and time did not permit this like you. My solution cost $10 and about 3 hours. K-mann
