It would be nice to be able to search title only.

Thanks. If I understand correctly, you don't like the search results that displays the title AND the first line or two of text. This is what a search with the current Quick Search produces. (I don't like it at all.)

If you will click the advanced search link, you will find the search screen most STF veterans are used to. AND, this search produces results by title only.

We are going to try and change the quick search function results to be the same as the Advance search.

Are we talkin' the same thing here?

Sorry for letting this thread get so old. I don't think we are on the same page.

The way the search works now, to find the threads you type in keyword(s). Then all threads with that keyword anywhere in the title or body text is displayed. I think it would be a lot better if you could just search for keywords in titles only. Then you can find threads that are related to your problem better.

For instance, if I wanted to know what distributor to use with a stock single port engine, I would put "single port" and "distributor" in the search. Right now I would get all kinds of threads talking about a bunch of stuff I don't want to know about.

If there was a search that searched titles only, you are almost guaranteed to only get results that are talking about your subject at hand.

No, it is not possible without substantial modification to the software. Modifications to the software are a challenge for me, at best. It remains, however, a good idea.
