front seat adjustment...

Post by vwfye »

i know the front handle allows the front of the seat to go up or down and also allow access to the battery... but what does the rear handle do? i could not get the seat to slide forward or rearward. and finally, can you adjust the angle of the back rest? i found i liked having the front edge of the seat bottom raised, but without being able to adjust the angle of the seat back, it was not an angle i would car to sit at. any help? pics from the owners manual?

There are sveral different seats. The frront knob as you have found, moves the front of the seat up and down. The back one...pulls the pin that allows the seat to slide forward and back. You need to pull the seat out, make sure the pins are operating, the gray plastic track glides are in....and things are not gummed up or rusted.
Generally ...in the four doors.... there was a black 4" diameter wheel on teh inside side of each front seat hinge. t cranked teh seat backs up and down. It generally was not on most of the wagons, but all of the drillings are there, you just need the chain drive linkage and knobs from a 2 door or 4 door. Ray
