Heater air as supercharger?
My 2-CV uses air from the cooling system to increase the HP from 27 to 34 by pressurising the air cleaner. Any one for trying it on a VW.

I've considered it. Can't think why you could'nt get it to work except jetting
but perhaps with FI? who knows. I've measured around 5psi at 4500~5000 at the doghous but thats as far as I've taken it....Im installing a 2L Subaru Turbo EJ20T...probable easier in the long run

Steve,
HotVW's did a little blurb on this years ago. As I recall, they were doing an article called something like "low buck performance tips & tricks". They took the ducting hose from the heater outlets & ran it to a tee fitting at the top of the carb. I think they even used PVC pipe for the tee. It was run on an engine dyno & they claimed a 2-3 hp increase at higher rpm. It worked but,,,, no air cleaner & I don't know how well PVC would hold up to the engine heat & gasoline vapors long term. You could buy a metal air cleaner enclosure like people use on blow through turbo systems so you would have an air filter. If you could fabricate your own, the low hp gain might justify the low cost.

Volkaholic is right. Hot VWs did an article some time back with Dave Kawell on upping HP on a 1600. As I remember it, the biggest problem they had was at idle when the float bowl would overflow and cause the engine to run rough because the mixture was too rich.
