Unread vs read topics indication

Post by Class 11 streeter »

Hey Doc

Tried searching recent threads on this, I didn't find anything.

Is there any way to get STF to show our "already read" topics as a different color for the subject line, instead of read and unread topics all showing up as the same color (BLACK)?
So you think your project is taking forever eh? Well you've got nothing on me.....

C 11 S,

An interesting suggestion. And, of course, I do not know the answer. I suspect that it is possible, the real question is whether or not I can make it happen. It sounds like a nice convenience.

So, what would have to happen is that when you visited a topic for more than a few seconds, say, after you clicked away from it, the topic would show as a different color or different symbol on the forum topics list. If a new post was made, the color would turn back to the original color, so you would know that there is something there that you have not yet read. Is this the way that you see it?

Before the recent changes, If I opened a thread it would from then on (unless I deleted cookies) show up in a lighter shade. Now it does not do that.

It has been a while, but I think that is in part due to the home page's body tags. Specifically the vlink being set the same color (black) as the link.

Code: Select all

<body bgcolor="#EFE7D0" text="#006699" link="#000000" vlink="#000000">
Yeah some may call it overkill, but you can't have too much overkill.

Plaster, you said it all right there! Yes, the thread topic we had already visited would show up as a lighter color. Thanks for clarifying that, I just could not put it into the right words for some reason?!?!?

sideshow said it too, just in a language I don't speak! :lol:

Doc, thanks for replying. The topic color change simply makes it easier to see/remember if we had visited a thread, not really anything crucial, that's all.....

It's on the list. We'll look into it.
