WTB:ZF limited slip differential
am looking for an NOS ZF limited slip differential for a swing axle transmission-any help in location of this will be appreciated

ZF's are rare. Swingaxle are even more rare.

Although Bruce2 is most knowledgeable concerning Quaffe LSD diffs, The part number for the LSD diff for a swing axle is 181 517 025A Things that were not imported into the US came with swing rear rather than the US irs rear. I have a friend who had a 75 English right hand drive Safari (Thing) and it had a swing rear with a lsd diff. Rare parts yes.. A myth, I am not so sure. I bought a IRS Quaffe that had less than 50 miles on it three years ago. I have it in my offroad Thing and it is a rear cool diff. K-mann

While Quaifes are a type of locking diff, even Quaife doesn't call them a limited-slip. They are a torque-baising differential, that has zero lock-up on deceleration, and progressive lock-up on acceleration.
VWs & Porsches like LSDs a LOT more than TBDs, due to the fact that the LSD has lock-up on decel, which stabilizes a rear-engined car during entry into high speed turns.
There will be a hardened 4340 Chromoly LSD for swingaxle available later this year, with substantial design improvements over the original ZF LSD.
