Weight of a 182 Trekker/Thing

Post by James SSP »

Hi,
Bit of a newbie here on STF. Just wondering if any of you guys know how much a thing/trekker (as their known over the other side of the pond) weighs? I have been offered a 74 type 182 and wondered what the comparison against a beetle would be. I currently have a 55 oval with bigish motor in and wondered if a trekker would be a fine contender for the treatment. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Regards James.

When I had my 1971 type 181 shipped from Germany to the states, they put down 955kg to 1395kg.

I'm assuming one was "dry weight verses loaded weight".

Cool, thanks for the swift reply!
So not much difference versus the beetle then.

Shipping weight: 1984 lbs (902 kg)
Gross weight: 2954 lbs (1343 kg)

Per the lit: http://www.thesamba.com/vw/archives/lit ... ge0008.jpg

It's a couple hundred pounds more than the Standard beetle, but about the same as a Super.
