I'm having some kind of problem with keeping the car running after it is warmed up. I travel to work on the highway for about 1/2 hour, once I come to a stop light the car shuts off. The timing has been checked twice. The car does not overheat. I tried adjusting the volume screw and it idles just fine. Could it be the fuel pump? There seems to be enough fuel going through the filter. The funny thing is that it will not do it all the time. Today I drove home and it happened once. Any help? 1974SB with 009 dizzy set at 28 degrees. 30/31pct carb.
Thanks
Jay

Does it fire right back up? That would make me think that the carb may have a float-level problem (too high and fuel can slosh out the vent when you brake which'll flood the engine enough to make it stall).
Insufficient manifold heat or lack of a carb warm-air supply will also cause stalling but it's much more likely to be experienced after driving for a shorter period (5 minutes or so).

The car does not back fire. The carb is about 5 months old. It had a 34pct until it started leaking gas through the shaft. That's when the new carb was purchased. It's been runnning fine until this past week. Can you tell me if there is something else I should be doing to adjust the carb? It doesn't quite adjust like the old one.

Thanks for the advice. I took the solenoid out , checked it out then put it back in and the car runs just fine. Maybe it was just sticking. Idles just fine and responds great.
