i am working with the seller right now to arrange a time frame to pick the car up. it is suppose to run, drive and stop... hopefully this is at least enough to drive onto a trailer! also, this one is a 73.

NO kidding? That'll be an adventure. A couple of years ago, I bought my '85 Golf for $300. I changed the rear brake shoes, a wheel cylinder, and changed the oil, then drove it 1000 mi. nonstop across the country. The fuel pumps were ailing, but I made it!

well, my 997 mile, 19 hour marathon is over! blink.gif i got the car home and myself, the car, the truck and the trailer are all in one piece! Dancing.gif after driving to Cool, CA i picked up the car onto the tandem axle trailer and took off back for home via I-80 westbound headed for I-5 north. about 25 miles into the return trip, stuff got scarey. eek1.gif the trailer started to fishtail severely and i ended up using both westbound lanes and the shoulder to save it. i really shouldn't have been able to, and as dave cormack can attest, i ditched the cell phone in mid conversation when it went very bad. unsure.gif after regathering the trailer and car back in behind me i travelled (very white knuckled) to williams, CA where i stopped and offloaded the car and put it back on the trailer 180 degrees opposite. without a trailer brake, it just wanted to swap ends under braking or even the mildest of down hills before the swap. so now, almost 3 hours behind schedule (trailer issue and massive traffic jam) i continued on my trek home. yelling.gif 19 hours and $150 fuel later, i arrived at my house at 1:30 am this morning. i will try and take some pics of the car over the next few days as time allows. imwithstupid.gif imwithstupid.gif imwithstupid.gif imwithstupid.gif

So you ended up putting the car on the trailer with the rear end at the front to help stability? What were you towing with, just out of curiousity? I never had any problems towing a Type 4 with the trailer with no brakes, and I have been borrowing my parents' Dakota, which is fairly small to tow with.
