affect of tilting front beam foward?

For road racing, autocrossing, or just taking that curve in style. Oh yea, and stopping!

affect of tilting front beam foward?

Post by Chris in Ohio »

I'm building a street rail that is powered by a GSXR 750 motor. Any way, I want to adapt a 73 type 1 standard front end to this thing, but, if I do it the easy way, the top beam is out an inch and a half past the lower beam, leaning forward. Will this have ill affects on my suspension and handling? The car will be about 1100 pounds and have about 50/50 weight distribution. Any thoughts will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Chris

Thank you for that info. I'm not the sharpest tool in the shead when it comes to steering. I kinda thought I'd have to not be lazy on this one.

Thanks again,

Small Wing works OK But can cause Breaking problems and check the front end Toe in. About 1/8" toe in and if it's for the street, Plenty of caster. About 1/2" to 3/4" lay back. (Drop a plumb bob touching the lower front axel beam and make the top Beam "torsion tube" .5" to .750" behind the lower tube. Remember the larger the rear tires the less caster you will have.

Oh sure Bear, thanks, Why do all the things that would be easy ALWAYS have to be opposite of what you are trying to accomplish! Who is this Murphy and how did he pass that law?

Thanks

Glad I could help  Why is it that these things are never as bad when they happen to someone else

yeah, you MUST have some caster. if the top of the beam is ahead of the bottom of the beam you will be really damn sorry...
