Steering center arm seals, Ball joint boots

What have others done for replacements for their cracked or missing seals/boots on the rod ends on their 411/412 steering center arms. I am sure that there is something off of another VW that will fit as the book shows a part number of 113 415 339. Is this a Super Beetle part, if not what was it used on?
I would also like to know what others have done for ball joint boots. Ray had mentioned using the boots off of a VW van, but the boots off of a mid 70's van seem way too large, about 2 inches in diameter verses 1 1/2 for a Type 4. Any suggestions?

Herr Doktor Greenwood uses old T4 brake master cylinder boots, cut down a bit. I think maybe the rear wheel cylinder boots might work, also?

Came up with what I hope is a good solution to the missing boots on the ends of the steering center link. I cut 9/16th long pieces of 5/8 dia. silicon hose and slid the pieces over the attachment bolt where the boot used to go. The length allows for a bit of compression and should seal nearly as well as the original, hopefully the silicon hose should last a decade or two. Also I intend to lubricate the joint by drilling a small hole in the center of its back and using a needle fitting to force it full of clean grease. I will then seal the hole with JB weld.

I'm using Ford Transit van track-rod end boots on my newly restored 411 ball joints. I've fitted grease nipples and drilled the centre of the dome, like in the post above. It is pretty cool seeing the old grease being extruded out through the slits in the plastic ball/socket lining. Just wipe the remains of the old grease off before installing the new boots. Then pump the boot up a little

I'll get some pics up here.
