Hi my name is antony from greece
i own a cabrio beetle 1961 with an AF:1600cc angine 12v and 34 pict-3 solex carb

i am thinking about change my carb with new one for more perfomance...
is ti worth? how much power in % usualy give the new ones from the old ones?

can i place an air filter in my old solex? now has tha standard filter with the oil...
it is better to do that or leave it as it is?

does any one now a site to elxplain how to remove tha body from a cabriolet?

i have and a 70's standar beetle and need new doors because they are rust ..very rust... can i place from an ather year model? 68.69.71.72?

Not enough of a difference to be worth it. Make sure your engine is adjusted properly: Valves, ignition timing, and carburator. Adjust the carb last.

The engine would work best with the carb that is already there, if it is in good shape. The common problems are: Dirt on the inside, and work throttle shaft. The shaft must not move up& down or sideways, it should only turn. If it is too loose, the engine will suck in air through the gap.

The oil filter is effective, the oil should just be replaced every now and then, and the bottom of the filter cleaned. The "horsehair" elemant in the top half of the filter should also be washed sometimes, with mineral spirits or maybe gasoline if nothing else is available. let it dry for a long time.

Again, there is no big performance benefit in changing it to another type of filter. It's not worth it.

To get more power, you have to do a lot more changes to the engine.

Be careful with the doors... they can be installed, but the TRIM list height is different between some years. If the chrome list is at the same height, then it should be ok to use anything from 68 to 70-something.

Mechanically, they should fit righ on.
