Post by Liam Jones »

Hi,
could anyone suggest where i could purchase any of the above parts new and in standard spec .I have the 1800cc AP engine code in my type 2 camper .I am rebuilding my engine and the cost is really spiralling to the point that i am starting to consider fitting a type 1 engine .Please any help before i make the wrong decision and regret it all summer while i am crawling along the slow lane at 55 MPH.

The stock camshaft was junk...even new. Just get a webcam. It will be cheaper..and better. Get the lifter too..they are required. Stock 1.8's should not be too hard to find. Now....the quality of what is out there these days in teh stock realm....is sometimes questionable.
If you have the original German cylinders and the fins are in good shape...you would be far better off to have them rebored to oversize. Replacement oversize pistons should be much easier to find. Do a search here. You can bore for 96's I believe. Ray
