NOS VW lifters/ 73 Web Cam

Would NOS VW lifters mate well with Web cam 73 in a stock 74 412 1800? This will be stock rebuild. With all the talk on the forums about bad lifters I'm hoping that this combination would be compatible.

No!...don't do it! There were issues with compatability with the stock stuff alone. The early engines had flat cam problems from the factory. Use web cams lifters...or those from Rabys aircooled technology (his cams are webcam)...or Aircooled dot net (they have a warranty).

The webcam is differnt in metaurgy than stock cams. Their lifters are designed with their cams in mind. The stock lifters are an unknown compared to webs lifters. I would not mix them. Its not much more for a set of lifters that are know n to be at least closer to compatability. Ray

Thanks for your quick reply. I was afraid of that,will opt for the WEB lifters as well.
