The 914 folks at High Performance House, Redwood City, Ca.
(650) 364- 6234
Provided a flawless (thus far) refurbished unit for $183.97 tax included. These folks have as many Porsches and 914's in various states, as anyone here in Ca. and seem to have a thriving business. They cater to the Silicon Valley area and are not cheap.
two-cents

Erik H, that is actually a decent price. I'll definitely keep them under consideration. Hey, were you able to make use of that clutch master I hope?
Longbeach412, let me check the part number I need tomorrow, and maybe we can work out a deal if everything matches?
Thanks guys!

Hey, its not that big a deal, I got a couple laying around, been helped before by many members of this list, so am just passing on the deed. I'll try to get the P/N, if it matches yours, pay me the shipping (should be $5-$7) and when it gets there and it works, then you can pay me what I paid for it ( 20 bucks).

All of the pressures sensors are the same....and nothing at all alike....at the same time. They are all made of the same basic parts...though there are at least two different mainspring combos. The coils and aneroids are all teh same. The diaphrams are all teh same.
However....the adjustments are all totally different. A type 3 can be made to work in a type 4 and vica versa.....but the adjustments are tedious.....and take trial and erorr. I will try hard to get diaphrams out early in the new year. Ray

I'm in the same boat as uber. I need the same part number 0 280 100 049. The one caxambas sent me doesn't hold vacuum, the one on my car currently doesn't hold vacuum - I thought I had hit the jackpot when the Bosch rep managed to order me one and was going to work out a great price for me. I came back from my holidays to find out the part has been discontinued in Germany and the US so no dice there. My car's insurance runs out January 5th - at that point its coming off the road until an MPS that holds vacuum can be found. 12 mpg just doesn't make this car a feasible daily driver, never mind the fact that it is not eligible for insurance because it doesn't pass emissions. I am this close to selling the damn thing but no one here in Vancouver will buy it if it doesn't pass aircare so it's not worth it to sell it because I won't get nearly close to my asking price for it. I'm really frustrated with this car but right now its basically a paperweight. Since I bought it a few months ago, I have dropped nearly $1000 into it - and I know that's a far cry from what others on this board have dropped into their cars but I bought this car believing it wasn't going to require any major attention right away, and I intended to be saving my cash to put into cosmetics down the road.
Sorry, I don't mean to whine, I am not looking for sympathy. It is buyer beware.
So, if anyone has an MPS that holds vacuum or is willing to rebuild one of the two I have for cheap or free or bartering, feel free to drop me a note.

I will look and see. I should have a spare. Give me a couple of days and i will see if I can turn out a one off replacement diaphram for you. The problem with just getting another MPS from someone else....is that you will have to adjust it anyway. There is a high chance that if I sent you an MPS....that was adjusted to my engine....you would not pass emmissions anyway.
Yes...it is simple enough just to "tweek" to make it lean enough to pass emmissions...but there may be drivability issues. Send me a PM and I will give you my phone number. Ray

The one and only! I have the original coconut mats (one has a tear though) and also most of the original trim and what not - the cardboardy piece under the steering wheel, the little triangluar shaped tray thing by the fuse box that I call the garage door opener tray, lots of extra little goodies I acquired when I bought it. Its in phenominal shape. there is a teensy bit of bubbling on the fenders by the doors and one fender has has the clear coat come off but it is in otherwise near mint shape! Its a great car when it isn't frsutrating the hell out of me!
I PMed you Ray.

Hey 412Jen, do you have the cherry blue one from ebay that was all original?? Ray, can you explain the adjustment part on the MPS? So just because it has the same number doesnt mean they are setup the same? Ray, can the diaphams be switched out or is that a major rebuilding? Too bad we couldnt use a modern type! I'll have to look also to see if I have one. bill
p.s. Wow, after reading some of this, the MPS does alot!!

Her car was on thesamba.com, but I don't know if it was ever listed on ebay. Those MPSs were used on all sorts of cars, could be from a different year Type 3, a Mercedes, or others....
