Remember a certain wrecked gold 2dr. 412 that I happen to have in my possession? I have an NOS rear panel, a pristine decklid, rear glass- I would be getting close to having all the parts to fix it...Now, I said I want this part, but the rusty 2dr. is getting cut up, and may provide everything else I need if there isn't too much hidden rust anywhere...

Wow, though, I never thought that this type of part would appear for sale...Whew, I'm tired just from the excitement.... :P

I can only imagine using that part for the sill portion of it; if you would really need this part, I would conclude: next car! :lol:

I think it kills the deal for even s/body in the (south of the) UK for this part :(

Thats kinda what I was thinking too. If you need that much replaced....more than you can deal with...will also be bent or screwed up.
That is only the kind of part that was used in the days when the car was still in production...and quite new and valuable...and got crunched on one whole side. The dealer would be able to install that easily...by putting the car on the correctly spaced factory frame rack...drilling out all the spot welds...and welding it back together. Ray

Yes, that part is actually much more than the car needs. From the rear of the door forward, it is fine, but what was hard to see in the pictures, is that the panel that surrounds the rear side window is tweaked, and the quarter panel below is pushed forward enough to cause the door to not quite shut properly. Luckily, the roof is not creased anywhere up at the top, just in the lower corner around the rear window. It will be an incredible, ridiculous challenge needless to say. The rusty one I'm cutting up should have just about all the metal that is needed to fix it. Once I get all the tools, I figure, why not try at least? What would it hurt? I mean, if it doesn't work out, it would have just been parted anyway, and has just been sitting around for 20 years wrecked, slowly deteriorating. I'm confident it can be all pieced back together with enough time, planning, and work. :shock:

It's so strange. That car looks so familar. It's good to know you are going to fix it up. I just didn't have the heart to part it out. Good luck.

Sadly...thats why I did not originaly buy that car. I saw it in person, when it was for sale out East of Mesquite TX. Yes..it can most assuredly be fixed, but it was more than I coudl undertake when so much money needed to be put into the one I own. Down give up! Otherwise that car was rather straight. Ray

Yep, it's mostly rust free and the interior is in nice shape still. Under 100K miles I believe.
