Running an oil pressure gauge, but want to keep the oil pressure light. Can I just run a tee fitting off engine block and run both that way? Thanks

My advise is to buy the VDO dual sender.
http://www.egauges.com/vdo_send.asp?Sen ... VDO&Cart=1
Go to the site above and select the sender for a dual guages. This will give you the idiot light adn a oil pressure guage.
The stock VW size threads for this sender is 10 x 1K
If you have questions call the 800 numer on the web site. These guys have great prices and great service for all VDO guages, shocks and more... K-mann

Thanks Kubelman, you would not happen to know pulse per revolution it's for an autometer tach setup.

I would call the folks at egauge.com 1-800-303-6211 - Monday-Friday: 9am-5:00pm ET - Saturday: 9am-2pm ET. Bugs and Buggies (Don's Sport Vehicles) They are very knowledgable and will have the sender you need. K-mann

That makes for a sanitary-looking solution, but it's not the first choice functionally. The gauge sending unit mechanism will not respond to rapid fluctuations in pressure as well as the stock sender does. Even if it did, if you're looking for redundancy, why have a single point-of-failure in the system?
Regardless of whether you use the dual sender or a separate one with a tee fitting, install it so that it's pointed
downwards (opposite of the way 95% get installed) - this'll prevent it from capturing an air bubble that'll make its response more sluggish.

I'm going to have to go with a tee fitting, auto-meter sending unit and the stock VW unit together. Was trying to eliminate an possible leak points Cannot find an auto-meter dual type sending unit anywhere. Thanks for everyone's help.

Good choice. Marc makes an excellent case for two separate senders to provide redundant data. Remember if you use a brass fitting for the tee be gentle when tightening up connections. Brass fittings crack very easily. K-mann
