I think that the car have at least 100hp

First and second gear are like stock (with a little more power), but when you putted it to third, this is where you feel the turbo coming in.... very cool

Hello!

I had 31pict on turbo 1600 engine, cam was scat C25, heads with 40/35,5 valves, turbo from Valmet 8000 tractor, no turbine bypassvalve but quite resistrictive sillencer after turbo, no intercooler, no mods to carb (stock jets) ran fine but leaked a bit gas.

Blow thru yes, stock jetting (I didnt even open the carb!) no flat spots, it worked like natural aspirated engine only went a lot faster Image .

The engine was installed in early 70s type 2, and it accelerated faster than 112 hp "wasserboxer" van from late 80s, early van is lighter ofcourse but i think it had somewhere around 90-100 hp...

The Scwitzer Co made a bolt on blow through kit back in the early seventies.... a few mags tested the kit back then and with two people aboard (typical magazine test procedure for the time) the standard d/p would turn about 78 mph in thev high 16 second range....figure about 80 hp....Rajay made a kit at the time and the standard Rajay kit made about the same ... only the Blow tru type hade this hideous appendage stuck on the ass end of the car... Almost as bad as a Hadley Eng "Style"....8)

if you want a stock type carb that will fit the stock intake manifold without too much fiddling, then use a Solex 32 DIS from a renualt 5 turbo. They work real great as a blow thru on an aircooled vw engine. My 59 Deluxe bus ran 0-60 in less than 10 seconds on 1679cc Garratt T2 turboed engine with on of these carbs. They can be bought cheap as chips.

Allan, I haven't done this with a Single PICT, but I blow through a set of Kadrons with perfect results. I make the assumption your talking about the main jet. Drill it out with a #48 drill, which will probably be way to rich, but you have to start rich and work your way toward lean. If your air fuel ratio reads more than 12 to 1, solder the jet shut. Easiest way to do this is place the jet on the clean tip of a soldering iron held vertical. Melt a little electrical solder in the hole and drill it out with a #50 or #51 or something smaller and reassemble the carb. Take another reading and see where your at. When you get it close to 12 to 1 air fuel ratio, you can convert drill size to metric and have it narrowed down to just a couple jet sizes, or just run it as is. The soldered jets have never caused me any problems, and I've used this method for over twenty years. You should have the car running pretty good in just four or five tries if you work methodically. Then replace the top carb gasket with a new one. You should know in one afternoon if this is going to work for you. Do a search for Mike Thompson. He did this several years ago with good success, and his thread is in the "stickies" in the Forced Induction Forum and is very detailed. If your not willing to experiment, this probably isn't the hobby for you. For the record, I have a Megasquirt on a 350 Chevy in an RX7 as my other toy, and setting up the Kadron carbs was cake compared to setting up the Megasquirt. Follow my suggestions in other posts for setting up the distributor and you will be well on your way to having a really good running car. Let us know what happens. Like I said, I've never done the PICT carb.
