Since I bought the car last year there are some problems with the clutch. After fixing the (leaking) hydraulic cable I thought/hoped the problem would be over > but not

Now I think it's probably the master or the slave cilinder that causes the problem. I already read a lot of info in this forum but still have some questions left:
- which of the cilinders causes mainly the problems? (the problem is that the clutch sometimes doesn't disconnect)
- are the cilinder adjustabel in some way?
- I read about a repair kit for the cilinder from FAG, but also that they aren't good quality. Has anyone experience with these or other repair kits and know where you can get these?

Both cylinders cause problems equally...but if you start with known new cylinders, you will generally go through two slave cylinders before needing to replace or rebuild the master cylinder.

The problems with the master cylinder are the same as those with the brake master. The fact that they are under the dash and out of air ventilation causes condensation to put rust specs on teh cylinder wall near the outer main seal. It rubs teh seal until it leaks at the rear. First it will begin ingesting air with no leakage....then leak from teh back of teh cylinder.

The late model slave cylinder....is 44.5mm diameter. Itworks well...but suffers from a few design flaws that cause it to wear quick. There was a model of it for a couple of years that had two seals opening to opposite directions. All the second seal did was act as a guide to keep the piston centered in the bore better and keep it from wearing the seal crooked.

If teh rebuild kit is indeed made by FAG...it should be top notch....but must have all the parts. There are only two parts. The seal and the boot with the crimp ring on it.

I am working on some cross matches still....for adding other cylinders like the Audi 5000 cylinder.....but those will take an adapter.

The master can be rebuilt by using the primary cups from and FAG brake cylkinder. Type 3 and late rabbit (non brazilian made)...work well.

If I were you..I would buy arebuild kit for the slave for now.
