Well I did this last year on 4/12, tomorrow, as I have a '74. Happy 4/11 to all those owners of the earlier model :!:

I will celebrate tomorrow but will probably keep my Alaska blue in the garage as we are getting down poured here in California and I need to get my new windshield re-sealed

Ah well, make it a great one and hit the road :!: :D

:D Yep..been smiling about that all day long. Hey...do you guys know the exact birthdate of your car? I can't remember the way to find out...but its in the code plates of the car. My car was born Nov 28th 73. When she gets back on the road...I treat her to something on that day (like I don't any other day  ) Ray

I had seen that too and wondered if the 411 folks wanted to cruize? I toke the 412 out and back and up to 60plus! Not a long ride but up to speed and rode nice even with a few wind gust.. I need a tach! Nice afternoon here for a sunset cruize! Enjoy, bill
p.s. I think my car is a late 73 just because the seat belts say that.

Don't know if it's in the chassis number or so. But I know that you can get a birthday certificate at the VW automuseum, see link below. It cost 25 euro, that's about 30 dollar or so.
It gives al so information about options which were delivered from out of the factory.

Here's an exemple, with also some english text:

My car was "born" on 13 december 1969 and had a "polar combination" interior :!:

Ray, how did you figure out the birthdate from the s/n?

The VW museum looks cool, hopefully there are some type 4s!

I am trying to remember. I read it somewhere. I can't remember if it had to do with codes on the werks plates in teh front or from something in teh car. I Will look in my black book. Ray
