help..goldenish blemish appearing on metallic silver paint
about 3 months ago i took my vw beetle to the body shop to have her painted metallic silver(she was maroon before)..i noticed that recently she started forming golden like spots or stains on various parts of the body...could anyone explain what this could be?

do they appear to be surface stains or coming from under the paint? Was a sealer used before the color put on?

some appear to be surface like and some going much deeper...i don't know details of what the paint shop did ..so i really don't know about the sealer.at some point near the hood it even seems like a rough patch has formed...

That sounds, especially the rough patch comment, like it wasn't sealed before putting the color on. A lot of older paints do not work well with current paints and can cause all kinds of nasty reactions like color bleed through, lifting and crinkling unless a sealer or sealer-primer is used.

My guess is that the paint is lifting (less likely) or the maroon is bleeding through. Changing colors from dark maroon (see black) to silver (see white) is a big color change. Wonder if the paint guy used a sealer coat over the old paint?
In any case, time to go back to your paint guy and make inquiries, for sure.
