Re: Problem of the day. Post it up!
I'm bored and want to break something...well not really, but my car is running great and I want to run it. I needed to address the traction bar issue (I have the CB hideaway header) So I made up something that bolts to the motor like a bus mustache bar, but on the ends is like the Berg style with the hangers....works great but it is so noisy I can't hear my self think, my straight cuts cut straight into my head....Oh and now my truck broke so I'm driving the bug until I get that truck fixed....huh what did you say P.S. I could also drive this

I need to order a bunch of parts but can't for the life of me figure out which place I should get them from.
Short list
Crank and Rod Bearings .010 under
Dbl thrust Cam bearings
Con Rods... prefer Scat 5.394 inch
Push rod tubes
Oil pump...Shadeck 26mm FF
Gasket kit
Full flow filter adapter
P/C set.......want to try the AA 88 mm Slip in case -machine head set.
And a few other odds and ends to finish up my new engine.
Any suggestions.....Or good somewhat local Washington Suppliers??

My car won't start.... after a complete engine out and everything to bits.
My problem is that I need to be at the back of the car, so I can throw a drop fuel down the single carb whilst playing with the throttle.... whilst at the same time being in the car to spin it over! Removing the pressure pipe so I can throw fuel down the carb also removes the throttle linkage mount... so I need to be in two places at once.
Probably easily solved if I can get a mate round mid week, but I doubt that and suspect I'm gonna have to trust a non driving wife or child....... oh dear.

You should be able to just pump the throttle on the carb to give it a bit of fuel from the accelerator pump.
If there is no fuel in the carb you might have to prime the fuel pump to get it to fill the fuel bowl.
I took a rag and the air hose from my compressor and gave the fuel tank a light shot of air to push the gas to the fuel pump.
That gave me enough fuel to get it started.

Alternatively I could just swap the plug leads around a bit
Started a treat after that....

Been there,
Those Edis style coils can be a bit confusing until you look really close at them and figure out which two plugs are off the same coil.....

Re: Problem of the day. Post it up!
I got my cage installed. I picked my car up this morning and everything was grand! Except I can still rock a passenger seat.
Break time at work came and I got to drive to 7-11 Well I was rallying through town showing off to a coworker (damn passenger seat)... That bit me in the a$$. I was banging through the gears doing total illegal stuff on the road when it happened... Pushed in the clutch in at our turn up our street and my car died
I have no idea why. It runs fine and revs clean. but I just touch the clutch pedal and it dies. I disconnected the clutch switch to rule it out and same same. I didn't have a clue. It even shifts through gears fine. So I had to have my wife come pick me up and tow my car back up the hill to work. I guess I need to bring in my laptop tomorrow and see if it can shed some light on the situation. I'm totally stumped about it.

It can't be too tough..... what all do you have hooked to the clutch??
All your switch does is trip the rev limiter right??

I only have a switch up at the clutch pedal for launch control enable. Besides that nothing is hooked to it. That is why it's so weird.Clonebug wrote:It can't be too tough..... what all do you have hooked to the clutch??

I hate to even think it, but how's your crank endplay? Could your pulley/sensor be loosing communication when you push the crank backwards with the clutch pedal?

Guess that would make sense... seems like you'd have to have an awful lot of end play though. Give the ole' pulley a quick yank and see what happens.
