Before I try whipping something up myself or hack up a Type 1 setup, does anyone make a truss bar or Kafer Cup bar for Type 3s?

My observations is that late type-3's don't have an engine cradle to tie a truss to!
Now early ones have a cradle, and I don't know how close the upper shock mounts are to a beetle, but the sub frame is rubber mounted/unboltable and if it could fit, wouldn't nearly as effective?
dunno

Yeah some may call it overkill, but you can't have too much overkill.

(EDIT:my memory is terrible, it will work just fine)
I'm building one for a 73 ATM... with an 091.
(Another variation on my "Tractor Supply" brace)
If I don't do it another way I'll take some pics when done.
If it an early T3 w/frame horns, YMMV as I don't have one handy to look at.

Addendum to Newtons first law:
zero vehicles on jackstands, square gets a fresh 090 and 1911, cabby gets a blower.
EZ3.6 Vanagon after that.(mounted, needs everything finished) then Creamsicle.

Re: Kafer Cup/Truss bar for Type 3?

I welded 1-3/4" X .095 Chromoly tube in mine and split pieces of tubing and welded it around the remaining length of frame horn then had it powdercoated. I bought the Delrin solid sub frame mounts from BUGBOX and built my own berg style traction bar to support the rear of the engine.
Later I cut the subframe apart and was building ladder bars with coil overs for it. I was going to reenforce the subframe sheet metal "frame" mounting location in thebody and found a lot of rust. Its all coming out now.
I pick up my Ron Lummus Chromoly chassis for my notch next week.
Its a lot of work to try to keep the back of these cars solid for big power!

Five years later and more than a year after I sold the car, I can report that the Type 1 Kafer bar fits with no problems.
